The famous Millie t-shirt and a boy’s love of pink.

The famous Millie t-shirt and a boy’s love of pink.

You may have noticed this bright pink tie dye t-shirt appearing in a few blog posts before. It’s one of three t-shirts that Theo has which were dyed for him by his teenage cousin Millie and if he could wear them all the time, he would. Even in bed…

The first one appeared about a year ago and won instant approval. I thought his obsession with wearing it might pass, but I was wrong.

A couple of times a week we now have a discussion about his choice of outfit for the day where I try to entice him into some of the many t-shirts I have bought for him (which aren’t handmade – horrors!) that have barely been worn, but he nearly always rejects them all and picks one of these three.

Being three, he also thinks that everyone else in the world knows instantly what a “Millie t-shirt” is and so he proudly tells total strangers that that is what he’s wearing and then I have to explain what and who and why…

Theo’s favourite colours are red and pink. I had to go especially out of my way to track down an etch-a-sketch for him that was pink, cause the orange “unisex” one just didn’t cut it.

I have read on other blogs that this early fascination with the colour pink for boys is often extinguished when children start in reception class at school and I am so much hoping that this won’t be the case for him. No gender owns a colour and we should all be able to rejoice in the things that make us happy, even if it’s a slightly hippyish fluorescent tie-die t-shirt.

Millie has great skills! What a fabulous tshirt and long may Theo continue to love things that are pink, handmade, or both – it shows he has excellent taste!

Hee here love it. he’s so cut and funny. I remember my sisters eldest when through a phase of loving pink too. He insisted on having a barbie pink electric toothbrush after staying with us and seeing Poppy’s. They went with it too and after awhile he was picking the blue superman one x

Gorgeous photos. I’ve been contemplating trying to dye a few t-shirts, but I can imagine it going horribly wrong. I hope school doesn’t have any affect on Theo’s love of pink #LivingArrows

He looks excellent in pink, the colour really suits him! And good on Millie for making it, too – it’s gorgeous.
