How fantastic was it that the sun finally shone this weekend and we got a couple of days of proper summer weather? It might even have put my desire for a last minute beach holiday to rest… for a bit!
To tell you the truth I’m really bad at sitting still normally (and a bit of that in your third trimester is a good thing!) but when weather is warm, if you give me a sun lounger, a swimming pool and the weekend papers, I will quite happily put my feet up for a couple of hours. Even better if I’m at someone else’s house where I can’t keep remembering little jobs that need doing!
The warm weather meant we were able to persuade Theo into my parents pool and get him feeling a little more confident with swimming. We had him in classes at the beginning of the year to prepare him for our canal boat holiday in May, but what he really wanted was some time to splash around and have a bit of fun
The summer weather was also the perfect conditions to give Maggie her first few runs. Chuntering through the fields with the windows down and the breeze blowing! For me it has been very much like learning to drive again (especially after 2 years driving an automatic Volvo estate!) but it’s also really good fun and although I am guilty of crunching the gears occasionally, I am getting the hang of her quickly… and Jim is a tiny bit more patient than my dad was!
The weather may have gone off today, but that’s ok too…. an Ikea delivery has arrived and there’s work to do in the house!
