Just as I knew it would, our last week of summer leave flew by leaving us with many wonderful memories and a long list of things we never got round to. Theo finally consented to a hair cut of sorts, even if it was just a trim of his fringe and the straggly bits at the back, it at least meant he looked presentable when I dropped him off for his first day at school today. A friend of ours popped over and helped us draw up a plan for planting in the garden and we had a fantastic adults only night out at Secret Cinema’s Star Wars in London.
In the end the sudden break from family time to work and school wasn’t as bad as I had been fearing, helped enormously by the sunshine this morning and the sea of friendly faces in the playground. Theo was delighted to be with his friends, to have so many girls to hug and a new place to explore. There was no hesitation, only an insatiable appetite for the new, but we shall see what he’s like at the other end of the day when he’s tired!
Autumn is one of my favourite times of year, I love the gentle warmth of the late summer sun and the feeling of a fresh start. This year we’re feeling that particularly strongly with new adventures for all of us. Jim started a seven month course (and a new weekly commute) today and I have a house to prepare for our new arrival next month.
