It seems like a long time since Theo and I have had a chance to have a weekday dog walk in the morning sunshine. Amid a packed and enjoyable halfterm we were able to return to our old pre-school routine last week, starting the day with a walk through the fields, instead of rushing along the lane trying to get to school before the bell is rung.

I was a little daunted by the prospect of entertaining them both on my own for a full week for the first time, but I am constantly surprised by how helpful this boy can be and that spending time together doing activities while Alice is asleep can be enjoyable.

School starts again tomorrow and I’ll be a little sad when I leave him behind in the  classroom…

PS – When I looked at this photo when I got home I realised what a truly terrible selection of winter hats Theo has and I have ordered one that is a little more jolly!
